Natural V Colour
I think every photographer battles with themselves and questions their style from time to time. Developing your own unique style takes time and I think you only truly get there when you push every boundary, make mistakes and learn the components you like and dislike from every pose, colour, texture, prop, lens, angle, editing technique (I could go on and on) in each session.
Having started out in newborn photography, extensively using a rainbow of colour, I have definitely in recent months gravitated towards a colour palette of warm, muted tones and are leaning more towards a more natural, neutral feel to my images.
In my past few sessions I have used a plain white or ivory blanket on my newborn posing beanbag and used layered wraps to create simple, stripped back images that allow the newborn to be the sole focus of the image. That's what I love about this type of imagery. Every bit of your attention is focussed the little miracle in front of you....not the prop, not the colour of the blanket, but purely the perfect, tiny details of the baby that we need to appreciate and treasure forever.
This doesn't mean that I no longer produce colour images, of course I do, but the colours I choose are more 'earthy' than maybe they were before. I would now choose dusky pink and grey blue tones and augment them with other neutral colours.
I'd love to know if you have noticed the change in my images and what your thoughts are on this. My artistic style is very important and personal to me but equally I'd love your feedback as you, my clients, are what are keeping me here doing a job that I could only have dreamt of.
Thank you again for your amazing support xx
