WHAT TO EXPECT
Newborn sessions take place when baby is 5-12 days old. They typically last 3 hours but can run up to 4 hours depending on how well the baby settles or the number of feeds required throughout the session. This flexibility gives us plenty of time to allow baby to settle into the environment and for us to capture the sleepy and curled up poses that you see in my images. The older a baby gets the more they stretch out and become more awake and alert and makes the images difficult to achieve.
My sessions are very relaxed and take place in my home studio in Kilmarnock, which is stocked with beautiful blankets, wraps, props and accessories. The studio is warm, with dimmed lighting and womb noises playing to create a very relaxing environment. Parents can sit back on the sofa and relax throughout the session (and have been occasionally known to have a little nap!).
I ask clients to return a colour preferences form prior to the session, which enables me to prepare and set up with your favourite colours before you arrive.
I want to stress that safety is always my number one priority when photographing you and your family. Please note that some images are composites for the baby’s safety and your peace of mind. In these composite images, a series of images are taken where hands are on baby at all times and then are digitally edited in post-production to create the final image.
I hope to welcome you and your new baby to the studio.
